About Me
Currently, I’m a PC Technician and Technical Support Specialist with 14 years of experience supporting, deploying and troubleshooting hardware and software on multiple platforms. I’ve owned my own computer since I was a teenager. My first experiences with a computer started when my dad brought home a company PC so he could remotely connect into work.
I enjoy dabbling in photography and design work. I’ve found with my photos, it pays at times to have a camera nearby because you never know when inspiration will strike.
My Work Experience
Salt Lake City School District
Currently I work for the Salt Lake City School District as one of their PC Support Technicians, which means I’m in the schools working to keep their devices running and connected. Some days it’s a matter of fixing a loose cable or resetting a password. Others it can be trying to figure out why an iPad can’t connect to the internet. Every summer we get to erase all the computers and reinstall everything so with the new school year, it’s a fresh start. Sometimes it’s trying out new software and fine tuning it for teachers and students to use and sometimes it’s the joy of throwing boxes and making a mess to set up new computers and new tablets.
Architectural Computer Services
My first technology job outside of retail was for a company called Arcom, short for Architectural Computer Services. While many people picture architects sitting at drawing boards or at drafting computers, designing new and exiting buildings, they also need to explain what their drawings mean. What materials to use and which construction techniques to employee need explaining. Technical specifications are a set of instructions that go with the plans to guide construction so the resulting building would look like what the architect had envisioned. Arcom created software to guide architects through the tedious and underappreciated chore of writing specifications. My role was to provide helpdesk support for those architects when the software wouldn’t load onto their computer, or to walk them through installing it or to troubleshoot why it wasn’t working for them. Sometimes I would even get to travel out to different cities and teach how to use the software.

In September of 2014 I was awarded the Wood Badge, the result of an advanced service and training program for Scouting leaders.
